Ten Nights Dream III

"Wait for me... a hundred years... without fail, I'will come again to see you." In Ten Nights Dream (1908) written by Soseki Natsume, a woman from the first night passes away after making a promise to her lover. In preparation for the centennial anniversary of the novel in 2008, the performance EVE-Sound and Movement Ten Nights Dream III interpreted 4th, 8th, and 10th night dreams, performed with live music on koto and electronics by Brian Labycz and double bass by Jason Roebke.

In this version, metaphorical essence is extracted from the original story as universal images. Dancers move in abstract manners as symbols and each space holds slow and simple happenings with gravitated force and energy as if those are released from unconsciousness.

Energy of life as undulation of river, left life as wondering being, the person's own reflection with forgotten self under water and feeling in the edge of precipice are depicted as episodes through sound and movement.

Eternal cycle under the law of nature continues and this piece will be culminated as Sound and Movement Mandala - Ten Nights Dream in June 6-8, 2008.
